When Pope Leo was still Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, he posted a slap at JD Vance’s newly minted cruelty disguised as Catholicism. Responding to Vance’s claim that Christians should “rank” their love to put poor, needy strangers at the bottom of their hierarchy of concerns, Prevost said plainly, “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn't ask us to rank our love for others.”
